It is so important that we, mothers take good care of our hearts, because they are the wellspring of our life. In this post you’ll find affirmation cards for moms and some encouragement if you’re emotionally exhausted.

In defeat, I leaned over my 5 year old’s bed….and prayed.

I had my hand on her soft blonde hair and was struggling to pray through my feelings of failure. These were the thoughts running through my head…

I’m a crappy mom

that should never have done the things I should have done.

Do my kids even like me?

Instead of saying those things out loud during her prayers, I simply said, “God, please help me to be a good mom to my baby girl.” Before I even said the words Amen my daughter replied…

“But mom, you already are a good mommy.”

I could have cried! Her words that night were a balm to my heart.

With a humble heart, I looked her straight in the eye and told her thanks for the encouragement and walked out of the room a few steps lighter.

It prompted me to make some affirmation cards for moms. More on that later…

This was a big lesson for me. It was a clear indicator that my inner thoughts were on the wrong tack and needed reigning in.

Why Your Inner Voice Matters

Your inner voice is one of the most important voices in your life. For more than one reason, it can make or break you emotionally.

I found out through many experiences with my children that if I don’t check how I’m speaking to myself… I will spend valuable brain energy beating myself up about petty things.

Maybe you’re like that too? If so… you’re not alone! Read to the bottom: affrication cards for moms can help!

Here’s a short story to elaborate:

My children and I had stopped by our neighbor’s for a quick visit. During the visit, the sweet lady was showing my oldest son a unique way of playing with a feather from one of the large hawks that fly around their property.

It was fascinating! Not to him…

I felt as though he was being rude by not giving her all of his attention and scolded him when we left. He was very upset and verbally told me “mommy, I’m a bad boy.”

I was heart broken… devastated… crushed…

My inner voice was very harsh to me for days. I was the bad mommy. What I said made my child believe he was the bad one.

This toxic inner voice hurt me for days until I finally had enough. I cried, prayed, talked with my husband…and came out of it.

Your inner voice…

  • Is with you all the time
  • Speaks even if you don’t want to hear it
  • Heavily affects your moods

Fact #1- What You Believe Will Affect How You Act

Want to know what you really believe? Listen to what you’re telling yourself…

  • First of all, your inner voice mirrors what you believe about yourself. If you think you are an angry mom, your inner voice will never let you forget the times you yelled at your kids.
  • Furthermore, if you are consistently guilty about how you yelled at your kids, you will be frustrated and cranky.
  • Secondly, your inner voice will cause you to repeat behaviors that you want to never repeat. It actually doesn’t the opposite of what you want.
  • For example, the more frustrated and cranky you are because of your mistakes… the more you’ll yell. Do you see the cycle?

Affrication cards for moms can help by replacing your negative inner voice with things that will calmly redirect your inner voice. Therefore, breaking this cycle of how you believe and act.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Prov. 4:23

If you tell yourself that you don’t know what yours doing… you’ll start to believe it! This will lead to you having NO confidence in your parenting choices.

This is a dangerous place to be.

You won’t be able to set boundaries and you’ll be afraid to make your kids angry. Feeling like you don’t know what you are doing will cause you to act indecisively.

Not because you are a bad mom, but because you think you’re a bad mom.

Fact #2- What You Think About Yourself Will be Communicated to Your Kids

What’s that saying? Oh, yeah…

“More is caught than taught.”

Our children will pick up on our patterns, thoughts, and behaviors. All of which, are controlled mostly by our inner voice.

If our inner voices tell us negative things and we live those out, the kids will know. Heres a sad truth: they may even think they are the cause of our unhappiness.

Here’s an example:

An old friend of mine suffered from a childhood of overbearing parents and an unhealthy marriage. Her self esteem was in the gutter…and it came out in her words and actions.

Oh, it wasn’t negative on purpose. She really tried to teacher her daughter self worth.

Time and time again I listed as my friend’s inner voice came out and damaged her daughter’s charisma and confidence.

Here’s the truth: If our inner voice is telling us that our kids are messed up and it’s our fault, we WILL parent out of guilt instead of out of parental authority.

In conclusion, kids will pick up on what we think. It will come out in our words and actions. So…changing our inner voice by using affrication cards for moms will help! More on that below…

Fact #3- Your Mindset Either Imprisons or Frees

Our hearts and minds are completely within our own control. What others do to us or say about us? Not so much.

At the end of the day, we must be diligent to feed ourselves with positive things. Whatever we focus on becomes what we orient our lives around, good or bad.

One of my favorite scriptures goes like this…

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:8

Research now shows our brains are immensely more powerful than we imagined. Our thoughts, habits, and patterns actually create paths in our brains.

Therefore, the more we trod on them the more entrenched they become.

Think of it this way… you’re walking through a field. Do you take the path where the grass has been beaten down, or force yourself to dodge vines and cacti to get there?

Honestly, most of us will take the easy path. We’re in a hurry and we don’t want put the work into it. This is why our most used path NEEDS to be a positive one.

Furthermore, this is why it’s hard to break free from negative mindsets.

Hard, but not at all impossible.
